Thunder From Down Under

March 12th, 2008

zac-the-australian-cattle-dog.jpg

“G’day cobbers” I was like a dingo with two tails when I found out I was going back to Bonnybanks Boarding kennels for a short stay, those friendly old pommy’s down there certainly know how to look after a bloke on his holidays.  There’s always plenty of tinny’s.. . .  Of dog food; you get a fair suck of the pineapple when it comes to time in the playground hanging out with all the Bruce’s and Sheila’s.  Cripes! Then there’s the great Ayrshire outback, it’s a Bonzer place for an Australian cattle dog to go walkabout. So if you folks are thinking of booking up for your Summer holidays.  You better get your flaming skates on; this place is filling quicker than a pub at opening time.

Ernie

ernie-0.jpg

Ernie, Long term boarder Ernie is now in his eighth week here at Bonnybanks boarding kennels.  His owner a very nice elderly lady is having to spend a long spell in hospital. Unfortunately Ernie’s future is looking somewhat uncertain.  Having come from a dog rescue centre, it looks like once more he could be returning there.  Ernie didn’t have the best start in life, but his present owner saw the special qualities and the gentle nature of this dignified little dog, in return he as  repaid her by being a loyal and faithful companion always by her side.  Ernie certainly deserves all the tlc we can give him while at our kennels.  But of course we can’t replace all the home comforts that Ernie has grown accustomed to, like raiding the fridge for a midnight snack, sleeping in front of a nice roaring coal fire, then there’s his favourite TV shows;  The Dog whisperer also for those very naughty canines Dog Borstal.Although he enjoys walks in the Ayrshire countryside around the boarding kennels Ernie’s starting to miss family life. So we’re keeping our fingers crossed that there will be a happy end to this doggy tail very soon.

All things White and Wonderful

kayla-and-ben.jpg

The peace and tranquillity of Kayla’s cosy little world has been shattered by the arrival of this little whippersnapper who goes under the name of Ben. This canny little West Highland terrier knows how to keep Kayla under his paws or so he thinks; of course Kayla has different ideas. She soon knocks him into shape. So the chase around the playground begins. It just goes to show you there’s life in the old girl yet. This boxer is not ready for retirement and never throws in the towel. She is a pure champ always ready for another few rounds with her sparing partner.

♫ I’m a Labradoodle dandy ♫

Dixie

Here’s one for the Ayrshire Chocoholics Anonymous; goes under the name Dixie. She’s a lovely Curly Wurly. This four-month old chocolate Labradoodle is an absolute joy to look after she’s the new stablemate of our old favourite Casey (a black Labrador) who is a regular here at Bonnybanks boarding kennels.
Not long after her arrival at the kennels Dixie soon made it clear that she wanted to be introduced to the rest of the pack. So under the watchful eye of myself, Chrissie, and of course Casey; She was let out into the playground to mingle. Dixie was an instant hit, “everybody loves a puppy” introductions over it’s down to some serious play, and with Dixey’s abundant energy and acrobatic skills she soon left the rest of the pack panting in her wake. So with her 20 minutes of fun and games over (we don’t want to over exercise a young puppy). it’s off for a quick nap in the cosy kennels under the nice warm heat lamp; reinvigorated for the afternoon’s events.

Up with the Lark.

Lark the Lab
Five lovely friendly black Lab’s in last week here at Bonnybank boarding Kennels. The one pictured is called Lark; complete her with her old comfort cushion which was never far away from her side. Although she was a little hesitant to join in with the fun and games at the beginning of her stay she soon grew in confidence, and trust and really started to enjoy her holiday. Lark is a beautiful Lab with a big personality and we enjoyed having her board with us.

Hey Good Looking!

August 29th, 2007

We get our fair share of good-looking dogs here at Bonnybanks boarding kennels, and this dog is no exception. This affectionate Shar Pei goes by the name of “Harry” with his loose fitting skin which is a characteristic of the breed, and a wonderfully expressive wrinkly face which is bristly to the touch a bit like a guy who has not shaved for a few days.
Although he looks like he’s frowning Harry is a very happy, friendly and playful dog who slobbers profusely, and then wipes his jowl all over your trousers.A great party piece cheers Harry!

We are Tonkinese if you please.

Merk flossing her teeth.

I have to allow at least an extra 15 minutes when cleaning Merk and Lotus’s pen, it’s quite hard to sweep and, mop, when you have a Tonkinese hanging on the end of your equipment,
then when you bend over to tidy up their toys, Merk! (that’s her in the top picture) thinks it’s great fun to jump on your back, and my waterproof trousers aren’t quite as waterproof these days they are slightly perforated, it seems if you’re a Tonk, popping your claws through that nice shiny material is quite a nice sensation, and let’s face it you can’t ignore a cat that hitching a ride on your trousers ;-)
Tonkinese have a mischievous streak, with a friendly disposition, they are a beautiful breed who love to be with their human companions.

Lucy and Tonto

Despite being on medication for epilepsy, Tonto doesn’t let this get in the way of living life to the full. We are told he loves nothing more than going for long walks on the beach with his trusty mate Lucy. This distinctive dynamic duo of Dalmatians with their striking liver and white colouring, certainly makes them stand out from the crowd; They get admiring glances, wherever they go. When they come here to Bonnybanks boarding kennels, they are always model guests with impeccable manners.

The Italian stallion.

April 28th, 2007

It is well documented that the Italians love all things fast for example, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Ducati, well now there’s a new kid on the block, Dash.
The Italian greyhound, with blistering acceleration that will match any of those gas guzzling monsters and corners as if he’s on rails, this dog is fast! He has a lightweight chassis with sleek bodylines, and velvet like upholstery, a canine that is definitely built for speed not comfort.
